Prevent Domestic Abuse

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to heightened levels of stress in many households due to sheltering-in-place and loss of employment. A sad consequence of this has been an unprecedented rise in the incidents of domestic violence and abuse. Women and children are endangered every day in abusive homes. Normal avenues that bring such cases to light, such as schools or workplaces, are closed. The victims of domestic abuse are finding no escape.

We Think Feminist has undertaken a fundraiser to support the women and children who need relief from domestic abuse. We are raising funds to support Genesis Women’s Shelter (https://www.genesisshelter.org/), which is dedicated to providing safety, shelter and support for women who have experienced domestic violence, and to raising awareness regarding its cause, prevalence and impact. The funds will go toward their emergency shelter, transitional housing apartments, and nonresidential counseling office. Due to Covid-19, funds will also help with the unexpected increase in their emergency shelter food budget.
