We are so excited to announce our Fireside Chat with Ms. Burton! It has been posted on the We Think Feminist Youtube Channel, and linked here: Part 1 of 2 –> https://youtu.be/9feIiQrn7U0

From Ms. Burton’s LinkedIn:

As a hybrid professional, Jasmine Burton is the Principal + Founder of Hybrid Professional Enterprises (known as the Hybrid Hype), a certified woman-owned global consulting firm that she founded following a decade of diverse independent consulting and freelance work. She is a social inclusion and design specialist with a focus on gender equity, meaningful youth engagement, and innovation in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and global health sectors.

Jasmine graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology’s (GT) College of Design with a BSc in Industrial/Product Design as a Stamps President’s Scholar. Prior to graduation, Burton founded Wish for WASH, which is a social enterprise (now operating as a multi-pronged collective) intended to bring innovation to sanitation after her senior design team was the first all-female team to win the GT InVenture Prize Competition (the largest undergraduate invention competition in the USA) for their invention – the SafiChoo toilet. This work was catalyzed in response to the fact that 4 billion people today lack access to safely managed sanitation, which is a statistic that disproportionately hinders the livelihoods of women, girls and other marginalized groups.

Jasmine has since led Wish for WASH in conducting iterative WASH innovation and research pilots in Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Ethiopia and in Atlanta-based resettled refugee communities with a human-centered design and gender equity lens. She continued to pursue her passion by receiving her MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as a Rotary Global Grant Scholar. In 2020, she co-founded an early-stage menstrual health venture -Period Futures.

As a motivational and educational speaker, Jasmine has spoken on 100+ global stages – including as a TedxAtlanta and Women Deliver Power Stage Speaker – and has also been featured on 50+ media platforms for her thought leadership and diverse prowess in outlets including CNN Money, Inc., WIRED, Fast Company, and WSBTV.

With 7+ years of various WASH, global health, and gender equity experiences across 10 countries in research, communications, and management roles within the public, private, and social enterprise sectors, Jasmine identifies as a social impact designer and storyteller who seeks to combine design thinking, business acumen, and evidence-based science to accelerate access to universal health and sanitation for all because #everybodypoops.
